14 creatives explore how they use narrative in their work
What is narrative for you, in your practice? How can stories or storytelling be of use to a design process? Where do your narratives come from? Are they important?
This one–day symposium drew together a diverse array of speakers from various disciplines such as architecture, exhibition design, public engagement and participation, interaction design, user–experience and design for urban initiatives.
We understand narrative to be a tool that creative individuals can use in their process and outcome. Within creative practice narrative as a term is subjective and illusive and has a wide variety of meanings. The speakers discussed the role narrative plays in their everyday practice, how they use it as a tool in their work, and the impact of stories on the experiences they create.
The event took place on Saturday 21 May 2011 at Toynbee Hall in East London.
The symposium is curated by Despina Hadjilouca and Nina Honiball.
